During the first lockdown last March, Ewa and I went swimming every day in order to keep fit and sane in those weird times. Last week the government introduced another lockdown, limiting people’s movement to their municipality. Yet again swimming every day became our cure for distress to the body and soul.

Today was an ordinary autumn day in Izola. After helping our kids go through the homeschooling program (with as little drama as possible) and doing a ton of unavoidable housework, we finally went for a deserved walk along our ‘corona route’. The sun came out, as if just for us, and the sea on so-called Vitaminček (Eng. Vitamin) beach became pretty much still. So we enjoyed our routine 20 minute swim and talked over the stuff that needed processing 😉
There were also some men swimming or rather dipping in water for a while, smiling, babbling and having fun. When we were changing, one of them approached us and invited us to an informal swim on 25th. Dec. at noon. During the brief chat, it turned out he swims all year round, too. It was nice meeting someone with similar attitude to cold-water swimming and realizing there are more people like us who try to get the best out of the small things in life.
Attention! The 25th Dec. swimming event is informal, with people keeping the distance to avoid breaking the current Covid19 regulations. We’ll be there! At noon. Sharp!
